Remodeling Kitchens for the Generation X

Snack bar allows for this busy family to sit and eat in the kitchen while the nearby cooktop ensures easy serving

Gen X families are always on the go – they’re busy raising children and running from the job to the soccer field. It’s important to consider design layouts that will help ease their fast-paced lifestyles.
Thoughts for the Gen X kitchen:
Taller, bar height table – allows family members or friends to pull up a chair and chat, or for a child to work the school project while the parents are cooking dinner.
Open floor plan – adding a peninsula or even a galley configuration, lots of pantry storage, two sinks, larger capacity refrigerator

Uncluttered spaces with creative storage solutions, hiding places for small appliances
Mud rooms with locker systems and cubbies for kid’s storage

Uncluttered designs – true contemporary or transitional contemporary appeal to Gen Xers. Slab doors with some glass inserts, single colors repeated throughout, stainless and hidden appliances, solid color quartz countertops.
