A Home For Everyone

Due to the economy and property values diminishing we are starting to see late age baby boomers moving in with their parents. On top of this, young adults have also begun to live with parents longer due to the financial constraints that are accompanied with pursuing a degree. Now that we have noticed the trend, what are remodeling companies doing to accommodate for these multi-generational homes?

The first rule in tackling this remodel is to consider the space and privacy available to those who use it. Remodelers and home owners should consider:

 - introducing multi-functional appliances to save space while also optimizing choices.

- creating multiple entrances and exists for privacy and considerate reasons.

- consider remodeling bedrooms to suite styles to ensure private bathroom experiences.

-  doorways should be wide enough for both wheelchairs and baby strollers.

- introduce a considerate amount of lighting with variety to provide the best lighting for any situation.

- switch door knobs to pull levels for easier entry and exit.

- pull the shower/tub unit and replace it with a functional walk in shower complete with necessary hand rails and faucet.

- a floating vanity in the bathroom for extra space when using a wheelchair.

Overall, it is important to make the best choices to keep the space barrier free and user friendly.
