Choosing The Right Counter Top

Deciding what you want your counter top to consist of can be a challenging decision. It is important to understand the options available to you and what might best fit your needs. This is why we've compiled some research together to give you an idea of what might be the best choice for you.

Quartz

This stone is manufactured; however, that does not make it any less real. In fact, quartz has gone through multiple steps to ensure that there are no air pockets within it and contains about 93% of the stone. This alone creates a more durable and consistent piece and ensures you the best quality as it is promised with a warranty. Quartz also goes through multiple polishing processes to maximize its shine.

A quartz counter top will guarantee there are no pores in your piece making it heat, scratch, and stain resistant. It is NSF approved, meaning that if you were to accidentally drop a piece of food on this counter top it would be sanitary enough to pick up and eat without the need to rewash the food.

Quartz is often times used with corian as it can fuse seamlessly creating a soft touch and visual appealing seal. These counter tops can also be ordered with a chiseled edge to add character and will not be sharp or hazardous.

Please know that quartz CANNOT be used outside as the sun will bleach it out.

Granite

A granite counter top is a natural stone piece that will contain air pockets as it has been derived from natural causes. Granite pieces do not normally have a warranty on them and has about 23% of the stone residing in your piece. These pieces require yearly sealing to preserve the quality and function of this counter top; however, with polishing, granite will shine more than a quarts counter top will. These counter top are NOT NSF approved and so if you are not using a cutting board, or drop a piece of food there it is highly encouraged to take the correct measures to ensure sanitary foods while using this counter top.

Porcelain Surfaces

This is a fire product, meaning that is has been heated up. It is a very thin product and come in sheets which require a foam core to install.

Dekton

This surface can be used outside and is available in solid colors. It has been known to crumble when being cut and it not a very popular item; however, once installed this product will stay intact. The texture is different from the usual counter top feel and will take some getting used to.

Lapitec

This surface can also be used outside and is produced in 2 and 3 cm. This product has a very high gloss on it and is made in Italy. It currently is available in 12 colors and has different finishes.

However, this product is not available to us at the moment and we are unsure of a release date. We are looking for distributes.

Glass

All glass counter tops are considered an art piece and are made to order. They are also considered a fusion piece and vary in thickness. These pieces can be back lit and provide a beautiful and unique eye catching feature.

Corian

This is typically the product you would use for your sink. It is easy to work with and can be used to create multiple different sink designs. For example, the trending ramp sink is created with corian. These sinks also have a removable drain.

Corian fuses seamlessly with quartz for an elegant and smooth texture and appearance.
