Coloring in Your Kitchen - It's Your Palette!

Choosing the right color for your kitchen is a critical starting point for the renovation process. Where do you start? Looks at what’s nearby, adjacent rooms. Maybe there is a color scheme that impacts your kitchen.  You want a flow between rooms rather than a total disconnect.  What are you keeping? Appliances, cabinets, countertops? You’ll need to incorporate any existing materials/elements. Think about the overall look and feel for your new kitchen… Rich and European? Crisp and Modern? Warm and cozy? It’s important to gather every material you’re considering for the kitchen remodel and try them out in the space. Not just paint chips, but cabinet samples, countertop samples, wood flooring, backsplash tiles, etc.

For a monochromatic scheme, use different intensities or “value” of the same color to make it interesting. Decide what’s going to be the main focal point – walls, counters and floors shouldn’t be similar in color. But remember, too many different colors can create discord. Save bright colors for accent colors.

Remember, it’s your kitchen, make it your own!
