Ineffective Kitchen Layout: Problem Solved

Nestled deep in the woods of Oakland Township sat a beautiful home, the site of frequent family gathering. This amazing house had one sticking point: an inefficient kitchen layout. Plenty of space with a bevy of beautiful views; it just wasn’t effective.

The kitchen was long and narrow and had immovable load-bearing beams in the way.  We had to soften the appearance of the beams, allow for multi-cook stations, an additional sink and add inviting entryways.

We added an over-sized island to house one of the sinks, the dishwasher, open shelving and seating for two empty nesters.  A second site with an additional sink/work zone also functioned as the party/bar area.

Bill Borchert cleverly integrated the load-bearing beam into the new informal dining area, added two beautiful, curved archways to the previously lackluster entrance ways, and capped it off rich travertine stone floors and beautiful tiled backsplash and high-end appliances.

A true epicurean enclave!
