Do you give free estimates on remodeling?

We get asked this question all the time, Do you give free estimates? Sure, but remember you get what you pay for.

Let me ask you a question first. What type of cabinet do you want? Maple, Cherry, Oak? Do you want a stain or paint? How about a glaze? What type of construction do you want? Plywood or particle board? What is your door style? What is that construction?  How many cabinets do you want? Do you want drawer? How about soft close? Pulls outs? Roll outs? What type of faucet are you getting? What type of sink? Sil-granite, stainless, cast iron? What about countertop? Are you moving any walls? Have you thought about the endless types of flooring?

See where I’m going? How good is that Free Estimate unless you know the hundreds of items that will make up your kitchen or bath remodel? The price could change dramatically depending on the items you select. It’s kinda the standard scam in the remodeling business to low ball all the products or give an allowance. The low allowance can be eaten up really quick.

The only way to ensure you know and understand what products are going into your kitchen or bath remodeling is to have DETAILED, WRITTEN specifications. Specifications for a bathroom are at least five pages and kitchens can be eight or nine.  You will pay for this service. Detailed specifications take many hours to prepare. Professionals charge for their work.

Beautiful cabinets alone do not make a great kitchen or bath. Its proper design, its proper ordering, its expert installation and job supervision along with after care.

While it’s unwise to pay too much, it’s even worse to pay too little.  Cheaper price = cheaper products.
